On the 22nd of May, the conference: “Circularity and Resource Efficiency of Food Systems” takes place in Bucharest, Romania. The event will be organised under the Romanian Presidency of the European Council. High level representatives from the ministries of Research & Innovation and Agriculture and the President of the Romanian Academy for Agriculture and Forestry Sciences will be present. In addition there will be researchers and other food chain stakeholders from Romania and other European Countries.
JPI HDHL and FIT4FOOD2030
at the conference Minna Huttunen, vice chair of the JPI HDHL will give a presentation about the JPI HDHL and how a healthy diet contributes to food and nutrition security. Fit4Food2030 will be presented by the coordinator of the project, Jacqueline Broerse. In addition, the second national meeting of the Policy Lab of Romania is an official side event of the conference. To stimulate the exchange of approaches and experiences with other policy labs, the policy lab of Flanders will present at Romania’s national meeting.
Aims of the conference
The aim of the conference is to create a supportive environment for establishing new collaborations in the field of agri-food research that share the ideas of the Food2030 initiative. Romania would like to become a reference point in the development of agri-food research in Eastern Europe. In addition, Romania aims to strengthen collaboration within this region and between European regions in order to contribute to an efficient and effective European food system. Focus points of the conference are to raise awareness about sustainable production and consumption, to minimize food waste and to transform agrofood by-products and residues into new materials for different purposes with an environmentally-friendly approach.
