The Healthy Diet, Healthy Life (HDHL) Early Career Network is a dynamic community of early career researchers in nutrition, physical activity, and health. It promotes research skills, fosters collaboration, and offers networking opportunities through online activities and resource sharing.

About

The network was launched in 2023 and is growing every day! Currently, the network consists of 50+ members from 9 different countries and 20 research projects in the fields of nutrition, physical activity, and health.

Activities

  • The network organises regular online meetings and webinars. Activities are organised in an interactive format so members can get to know each other, projects and research, and share feedback and ideas.
  • The network aims to facilitate in-person meetings, for example at conferences
  • Members can join an online communication platform to chat with other members and gain access to all network documents (e.g., information about previous webinars and a list of relevant upcoming conferences)

Past Activities

On Monday, 15th April 2024, the HDHL Early Career Network (ECN) organised a webinar for its members on “writing (successful) applications for funding” followed by a Q&A session.

Assistant Professor Tom Deliens (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium), a partner in the HDHL I-PREGNO-project, gave an insightful presentation on this topic. He explained the difference between grant and paper writing and highlighted key points of focus when applying for grants. He shared his best tips and tricks, derived from own experiences and other sources.

His enthusiasm, stories, and clear examples inspired the 15 ECN members attending. The Q&A session was dynamic with loads of questions and helpful answers. Fingers crossed for successful grant applications by the ECN members in the future!
