Recap of the HDHL Joint Board Meeting - Florence, Italy

Florence - Italy
The HDHL Management Board, Stakeholder Advisory Board, and Scientific Advisory Board came together this week in Florence, Italy to discuss the future of HDHL.

The first day of the Joint Board meeting of HDHL began with a warm welcome from the host country, Italy. The green environment of the meeting venue in Florence was very stimulating and inspiring to focus on shaping the future of HDHL.

This entailed an overview of the recently granted CSA, 'HDHL Food4Health', detailing its objectives and relevance to HDHL. Together, the Management Board, Scientific Advisory Board, and the Stakeholder Advisory Board explored how to align the CSA Food4Health with HDHL. Hereby discussing activities, overlaps, synergies, and gaps.

Additionally, the Joint Boards revisited HDHL’s vision, mission, and governance structure. Through co-creative group work led by guest facilitators from the AIT, the groundwork was laid for a successful future for HDHL.

The day wrapped up with a guided walking tour of Florence and a joint dinner, providing attendees with a chance to connect over dinner.

The second day started with a very important aspect concerning the future Chair of HDHL. As you know, HDHL is looking for a new Chair and interviews were held with potential candidates. More information about this will follow soon.

Furthermore, there was a discussion on the upcoming call around Ultra-processed Food. After the workshop held before on the content of the call, the Management Board discussed how to proceed and the direction to take.

Lastly, there was a presentation regarding the approach and outcome of the PREPHOBES call and final symposium. It was a new approach for HDHL to include stakeholder participation in the projects. Also, the early career researchers involved in the PREPHOBES call eventually laid the foundation for the HDHL Early Career Network.

Overall, a very fruitful meeting, lots of things to work on, and a future to look forward to!
