Update on the JPI HDHL 2020 calls PREVNUT and PREPHOBES

PREVNUT PREHPOBES

In January 2020 the JPI HDHL launched two new calls: PREVNUT, the fifth call organized under the umbrella of the ERA-NET ERA-HDHL and PREPHOBES, the fourth call organized under the umbrella of the ERA-NET HDHL-INTIMIC. The submission stages were successfully closed in May and now proposals are under evaluation.

PREVNUT

At the closure of the one step submission procedure, 17 proposals were successfully submitted, representing 97 participants from the 11 countries supporting this initiative, with a total budget request of 15 million Euros.

The aim of the PREVNUT call was to support transnational collaborative research projects that address important research questions regarding the prevention of undernutrition in European older citizens through the consumption of appropriate nutritious food. This call was particularly focused on projects that show how the balance between diet and physical activity or the development of innovative food products could prevent undernutrition during ageing. A panel of international experts is now in charge of the evaluation of the different proposals. The applicants will have the possibility to answer the concerns raised by the experts during a rebuttal phase that will take place from the 1st to the 10th of September. The final evaluation meeting will be organized in September 2020 and the evaluation outcomes will be communicated to the applicants during the first half of October.

PREPHOBES

At the closure of the first stage, 36 pre-proposals were successfully submitted by 223 participants representing 11 funding agencies from the 10 different countries supporting this initiative, with a total budget request of 39 million Euros.

The aim of the PREPHOBES call was to support research projects that focus on the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative strategies designed to prevent or reduce overweight and obesity, in defined target populations based on certain life stages. A panel of international experts is now in charge of evaluating the different pre-proposals. The evaluation results of the pre-proposals will be communicated to the applicants by June 19th, and those applicants that will be invited to continue to the next stage will have the opportunity to submit a full proposal by July 31st at the latest.
