NAFLD affects 25-30% globally, yet lacks specific treatment. Research now targets the liver–gut axis and bile acids. Soluble fibers, like oat β-glucans, may improve liver health by binding bile acids and altering the gut microbiota to improve metabolic parameters. - Image

Gut microbiota affects health and type 2 diabetes (T2D). Diet shapes these microbes, and gut-derived metabolites may be altered in T2D based on intake. While fiber metabolism is well-studied, protein's role remains unclear. It is unknown how dietary protein affects glucose and lipid metabolism in T2D. - Image
WHO ranks colorectal cancer as the 2nd leading cancer killer. Red and processed meats increase risk, and while the gut microbiome is vital for health and digestion, its exact role in the development of this specific cancer remains unclear and requires more study.
