The JPI HDHL is turning 10 this year, but under these circumstances there seems little cause for celebration. At the same time, the importance of our health is underlined more than ever.

During the Open Food Conference in Louvain, Belgium from March 11th to 13th, the City of Milan and Eurocities, both partners in CLEVERFOOD, presented the deliverable ‘Comparative analysis of existing urban food policies’, offering insight on the need for a fairer and more sustainable urban food system.
On the 18th of June JPI HDHL is organising a virtual mid-term symposium for the projects funded in 2 calls focussing on the intestinal microbiome. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the symposium will be held virtually. In this way, the JPI HDHL can still offer project leaders the opportunity to exchange knowledge and facilitate a discussion.
The fourth and final part of the FIT4FOOD2030 webinar series advocating for responsible research and innovation (RRI) and systems thinking for food system transformation took place on July 14th.

In 2019, JPI HDHL and its ERA-Net HDHL-INTIMIC organized a call for research projects aimed at better understanding the impact of diet, food components, and food processing on body weight regulation and metabolic diseases related to overweight. The results of the funded projects were presented during a final symposium held on December 5th.
