JPI HDHL is pleased to launch a new joint funding activity “Nutrition-responsiveness of the immune system: interplay between infectious diseases and diet-related metabolic diseases and the potential for food-based solutions (NUTRIMMUNE)”. - HDHL aims to enhance dietary quality sustainably, drawing from insights in food, nutrition, and health sciences. The goal is to provide evidence-based recommendations and innovative food product formats, coupled with addressing sedentary behavior.

The gut microbiome is vital for health; low diversity increases non-communicable disease risk. While diet modulates this, effects are highly individual. Understanding these diet-microbiota interactions is essential for personalized nutrition and reducing cardiometabolic disease risk. - The core principle of HDHL is to facilitate coordination between policy makers and scientists within Europe and behond. This to generate new scientific knowledge, share existing knowledge and expertise, and bring together important datasets in the areas of food, nutrition and health.

24 research groups from 7 countries involved in 6 research projects will start working for the upcoming three years to gather new insights about the relationship between nutrition and immunity. Nine additional research teams will collaborate with them with own resources.
